Annual General Assembly 2026

Notice: 2026 MNO Annual General Assembly – Relocated to the Greater Toronto Area

July 31, 2026

The Métis Nation of Ontario continues to be deeply troubled by the devastating impact the wildfires have had on communities across Northern Ontario, a crisis our Citizens know all too well, and one that grows more severe every year as a direct consequence of climate change.

This week, the MNO received information that raised serious concerns about our hotel reservations in Thunder Bay for the AGA. We immediately engaged with officials from First Nations directly affected by evacuation orders, Emergency Management Ontario, Indigenous Services Canada, local and regional Métis leadership, and the City of Thunder Bay.

We confirmed that Thunder Bay’s infrastructure is severely strained, and that evacuees sheltered in Thunder Bay hotels would be required to relocate, possibly outside the city and away from their families, if the MNO maintained its reservations. As a Métis government, that was unacceptable and we have taken immediate action.

An emergency meeting of the Provisional Council of the Métis Nation of Ontario was immediately convened. Today, the PCMNO passed a resolution by consensus: the 2026 MNO Annual General Assembly will proceed on August 14–17, 2026 in the Greater Toronto Area.

Exact venue and logistical details will be posted as soon as they are confirmed.

If you are a registered delegate, more information is coming shortly. A live stream of the AGA will be available.

The Métis Nation of Ontario’s Annual General Assembly (“AGA”) is Métis self-government in action. Every year, MNO leadership and citizens from Métis communities across Ontario gather to make their voices heard, review the past year’s successes, and set a course for the coming year.
